Nashua, NH — Nashua Fire Rescue, in partnership with IAFF Local 789 and the Nashua Firemen’s Relief Association, has formally recognized the staff, nurses, physicians, and caregivers of Southern New Hampshire Medical Center for their exceptional care and compassion following the gas explosion at 440 Amherst Street.

As part of this recognition, a banner has been placed over Main Street in downtown Nashua, serving as a public expression of gratitude to the hospital’s Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and the many specialized and supporting staff who played a critical role in caring for injured firefighters and supporting their families.

Following the incident, members of Nashua Fire Rescue were treated by highly skilled medical teams whose care extended far beyond clinical excellence. “In our profession, we often speak about first responders. While our members arrive first on scene, it is the hospital staff standing ready in the emergency department, intensive care units, and throughout the hospital’s specialized and supporting teams who continue that response with skill, compassion, and unwavering commitment when it matters most."

This recognition reflects the strong partnership between Nashua Fire Rescue and Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, as well as a shared commitment to protecting the community. The Main Street banner stands as both a symbol of appreciation and to highlight the unique bond between those who respond to emergencies whether on the street, in the firehouse, or within the walls of a hospital.
