Families packed Holman Stadium on Saturday as Nashua hosted its annual Independence Day celebration with an evening of music, carnival rides and fireworks. The festivities began in the afternoon with carnival rides for children and food trucks set up around the stadium.
Thunderstorms rolled through briefly, cooling things down but not long enough to delay the schedule. The pre-fireworks crowd was entertained by five-piece rock band the Slakas.
The Nashua Lions Club held an induction ceremony for the 2026 Holman Stadium Sports Legends Hall of Fame, honoring former Parks and Recreation Superintendent Nick Caggiano, longtime Telegraph sportswriter Tom King and Boston Red Sox player Mickey Gaspar, a former Nashua Silver Knight.
The Spartans Drum & Bugle Corps took to the field as the crowd settled into their seats and onto blankets on the field. They performed as dusk approached, setting the stage for the fireworks display.
After sunset, the stadium lights dropped and a full-scale fireworks show lit up the sky over Holman, drawing cheers and applause with each burst. The Spartans performed “On the World Stage” as a musical accompaniment to the display.
The show capped a community-focused celebration that gave Nashua residents a shared place to mark the nation’s 250th year of independence together.
