The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Donates Approximately 40,000 Pounds of Food to New Hampshire Food Bank Through America250 Initiative

The shipment, which is expected to arrive at the New Hampshire Food Bank's Manchester warehouse at approximately 9:00 a.m., will include 24 pallets of food and other essential items.

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The New Hampshire Food Bank, a program of Catholic Charities New Hampshire, will receive approximately 40,000 pounds of shelf-stable food from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Wednesday, October 28. The donation comes through a partnership between the America250 America Gives initiative and the Church’s JustServe community service platform, which connects volunteers with local service opportunities.

The shipment, which is expected to arrive at the New Hampshire Food Bank's Manchester warehouse at approximately 9:00 a.m., will include 24 pallets of food and other essential items. The delivery is part of a national collaboration that began in November 2025, in which 250 truckloads of food will be donated to communities in all 50 states. The donation comes at a critical time, as many New Hampshire families continue to face challenges affording groceries and other household necessities.

“This generous donation is vital to meeting the growing need for food assistance across New Hampshire," said Elsy Cipriani, Executive Director of the New Hampshire Food Bank. "Every day, we see the profound impact that rising food costs and economic pressures have on our neighbors. Support from dedicated partners like The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ensures we can continue providing nutritious food to individuals and families throughout our state.”

The America250 initiative is a nationwide effort to commemorate the nation's 250th anniversary through service and community engagement. Food donations and volunteerism are central components of the initiative, helping communities address pressing local needs, while encouraging greater civic involvement.

"We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with the New Hampshire Food Bank through the America Gives initiative," said Boyd Maughan, Concord, New Hampshire Stake President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. "By working together, we hope not only to provide food to those experiencing hunger today, but also to inspire more individuals and organizations to volunteer, serve, and support efforts that strengthen communities throughout New Hampshire."

The donated food will be distributed through the New Hampshire Food Bank's statewide network of more than 400 partner agencies, including food pantries, shelters, community meal programs, senior centers, and schools. The shipment will help provide meals to New Hampshire residents who are struggling to make ends meet amid ongoing economic challenges.

According to Feeding America, nearly 160,000 New Hampshire residents experience food insecurity, including more than 38,000 children. The New Hampshire Food Bank continues to see strong demand for food assistance statewide and relies on the support of volunteers, donors, and community partners to meet that need.

Community members interested in helping fight hunger are encouraged to volunteer, donate, or learn more about available opportunities at nhfoodbank.org. Volunteer opportunities may also be available through JustServe.org, which connects individuals with service projects in their communities.
