Community town hall will examine utility rates, affordability, and the roles of New Hampshire’s Executive Council and Public Utilities Commission
MANCHESTER, N.H. — Rights & Democracy NH and 350 NH will host an “Electric Bill Town Hall: Power Shouldn’t Cost an Arm and a Leg” on Wednesday, October 14, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Manchester City Library Auditorium.
The town hall will help community members understand how New Hampshire’s Executive Council and Public Utilities Commission (PUC) influence utility rates and energy affordability. Panelists will discuss issues affecting household energy costs and answer questions from attendees.
Topics will include:
- Eversource profits and affordability
- Recent electric rate increases and protecting ratepayers
- Data center electricity costs and keeping them off household bills
- Fuel assistance and heating oil costs
- Using the Renewable Energy Fund to reduce heating costs
- Oversight of Department of Energy funding and projects
Confirmed panelists are Cinde Warmington, Karen Liot Hill, Luz Bay, Melanie Levesque, and Lisa Marie Sheldon. The program will include an overview of the Executive Council and PUC, panel introductions, a moderated discussion, and audience Q&A. Attendees will also have time to connect with candidates and visit their tables.
