NH Department of Safety employees to deploy to New Mexico

“In New Hampshire, we help our neighbors – even when they may be across the country,” said Commissioner Robert L. Quinn. “I’m confident Tyler’s training and experience will be an asset to New Mexico as they navigate the impacts of record-breaking weather.”

CONCORD, N.H. —Two employees from the New Hampshire Department of Safety deployed to Santa Fe, New Mexico, on Thursday, October 29, to help with response and recovery efforts with deadly flooding in the state.

Strategic Communications Administrator Tyler Dumont with the Commissioner’s Office and Community Outreach Coordinator Vanessa Palange with the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management will spend 10 days in the state of New Mexico’s Emergency Operations Center assisting with public information efforts. This could include interacting with the public, media, and other agencies; monitoring public information for accuracy; communicating and sharing information with officials; and sharing information and updates with the public through news media, radio, newspaper, and social media.

“In New Hampshire, we help our neighbors – even when they may be across the country,” said Commissioner Robert L. Quinn. “I’m confident Tyler’s training and experience will be an asset to New Mexico as they navigate the impacts of record-breaking weather.”

According to the National Weather Service, more rain is expected on Sunday that could lead to additional flooding.

“We remain committed to not only helping New Hampshire but also to supporting others in times of crisis,” said HSEM Director Robert Buxton. “Vanessa will bring compassion and dedication to assist the State of New Mexico.”

The deployment is part of the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC). EMAC is a national contract that provides disaster relief when a governor declares a state of emergency.  The New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management made the request for additional public information officers in the days following the storm.

“As many communities continue to reel from ongoing flooding, timely and factual information is critically important,” Dumont said. “I’m proud to be able to offer support to New Mexicans during this crisis.”

This is Palange’s second deployment through EMAC. She deployed to Alaska in 2025.

“Each time we have an opportunity to help another state, it allows us to learn,” Palange said. “I am grateful for the chance to help our partners in New Mexico, and I hope to bring new skills back home to New Hampshire and HSEM.”
