NASHUA, N.H. — Nashua Fire Rescue dispatched multiple engines and ladder trucks to a fire at 50–52 Temple Street on Thursday afternoon, displacing 15 residents of the apartment building as crews quickly contained the blaze to a single building.

General Incident Description:
At approximately 1430 hours on July 9, 2026, the Nashua Fire Rescue Dispatch Center received a call from (on duty) Nashua Police Officers (patrolling their sector) for smoke coming from the building at 50/52 Temple St. A first alarm assignment of two Engines and one Ladder Truck was initially dispatched to the scene. Crews responded from the Amherst St. Fire Station, as well as the East Hollis St. Fire Station.
Engine Co. 4 (East Hollis St.) arrived on scene first and noted smoke coming from the second floor of the building. Lt. Patrick Kerrigan of Engine Co. 4 advised that they had a confirmed fire in the building and he established scene command. He also advised that they were stretching hose lines to initiate fire attack. Engine 1 and Ladder 1 from the Amherst St. Fire Station were next to arrive in short order and began to assist with search and rescue efforts as well as ventilation procedures.
Due to the elevated temperatures of the day (90+ degrees) as well as the size and scope of the building involved, Deputy Chief Scott Mobley increased the incident response to a Working Fire Assignment which summoned an additional two Engine Companies as well as an additional Ladder Company. This brought Engine 2 and Ladder 2 from the Lake St. Fire Station as well as Engine Co. 6 from the Conant Rd. Fire Station directly to the scene.
On arrival, Deputy Mobley assumed scene Command. Companies engaged in fire attack, ventilation and search simultaneously. Crews were able to confine the fire to the second floor of the structure however the building did suffer significant smoke and heat damage.
Crews completed primary and secondary searches on all floors and it was noted that all occupants were able to evacuate the building safely without incident. No injuries were reported. Several pets were removed from the building as well and were noted to be uninjured. The call was placed under control shortly after extinguishment. Crews were tasked with extensive overhaul operations to ensure that there was no extension of fire away from the area of origin.
Approximately 15 occupants were displaced.
Members of Eversource as well as Liberty Utilities arrived on scene and secured both the gas supply and the electrical supply to the building. Pennichuck Water ensured that the water was shut off as well.
American Medical Response provided ambulance / emergency medical services coverage of the scene during firefighting operations.
The Nashua Fire Marshall’s Office is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
