NASHUA, N.H. — The Nashua Area Artists Association celebrated the first anniversary of its ArtHub Gallery with an open house reception Saturday. The downtown space at 98 Main St. showcases works by 40 to 50 local artists, including paintings, jewelry, metal and wood pieces, and other three-dimensional works in a range of media.
Jacqueline Barry, co-manager of the gallery and workshop master for the association, said the group has about 90 members. Exhibitions rotate every three months, keeping the gallery’s inventory fresh.
Barry said the gallery has had a strong first year and is becoming better known in the community. Sales and visitor traffic ebb and flow with the calendar, she said, noting that January through March is typically slow “because everybody spent all their money over the holidays.”
Events organized by the Downtown Nashua Association have helped boost visibility and revenue. “That’s where we did a tremendous amount of sales, during the Holiday Stroll and the Summer Stroll,” Barry said. “We make a lot because it brings people downtown. I’m hoping with the renovation of Renaissance Park and the smaller events there, it will bring more people down this way.”
ArtHub hosts workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions and receptions. Recent workshops have covered topics such as glass fusing, sewing and quilting, painting and creating Indian folk-art pieces.
The gallery accepts work from both association members and nonmembers. For more information, visit the Nashua Area Artists Association website.
The association also presents the annual Greeley Park Art Show. This year’s show, the 79th, will be held Aug. 29 and 30.
