Summer is winding down and autumn is just around the corner. With New Englanders taking their last opportunities to get away, events are fewer. So it seemed like the perfect time to talk about some invigorating changes downtown.
Fresh Boutique on Main Street is closing as owner Cheryl embarks on a well-deserved retirement and we wish her well. We were excited to learn that another boutique is already slated to take its place and more details will be coming soon.
Mesozoic Tiki Bar and Lounge just celebrated a soft opening this week and we can’t wait to see all they will be offering in the coming months. It’s a really cool space with great atmosphere so make a point to stop in.
Campo Enoteca is also positioned to open soon, taking over the space previously occupied by San Francisco Kitchen, bringing new flavors and variety to the Downtown foodscape.
Nonetheless, we see the scuttlebutt online when these changes happen—numerous Facebook comments about “another empty storefront” which, at this point, we want to address. As always, businesses close for a multitude of reasons and new ones open. If one were to walk down Main Street, they would see perhaps one empty street-level storefront. From where we are standing, things look pretty good. We are excited to see many of our newer retail spaces and restaurants thriving. These include Bound Together, Local Street Eats, Pun Thai Kitchen, T&T Way, and others who are breathing new life into the Downtown area. We look forward to seeing what the future brings. And if you would like to see it grow, be sure to come down and patronize these businesses.
