Pouring rain didn’t prevent the Footrace for the Fallen 5K From Being Run
The annual Footrace for the Fallen 5K brings together community members, first responders, and runners across New England to honor fallen law enforcement officers while raising vital support for local youth.

Honoring Ultimate Sacrifices

Established in 2007, the event pays tribute to Manchester police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty—including Officer Michael Briggs, Officer Ralph Miller, Inspector William Moher, and Sergeant Henry McAllister—as well as all law enforcement officers statewide who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Course & Impact

The certified 5K route begins outside Manchester Police Department headquarters at 405 Valley Street.Participants race past historic landmarks including the former department headquarters before making their ceremonial turn into historic Gill Stadium, crossing the finish line right on the field.

Proceeds from the event directly benefit two major community efforts:

  • Manchester Police Athletic League (MPAL): Provides free after-school, athletic, and educational enrichment programs to Queen City youth.
  • The Hundred Club of New Hampshire: Offers financial assistance and scholarships to surviving spouses and children of fallen officers and firefighters across the state.

Organized in partnership with Millennium Running, the Footrace for the Fallen remains one of Manchester's most meaningful autumn traditions, connecting athletic achievement directly with community remembrance.
