AMR medics responded to a total of 38 suspected opioid ODs in Nashua and Manchester during July 2026. 28 occurred in Manchester and 10 occurred in Nashua.
2 of the suspected opioid ODs in July were suspected opioid OD deaths. 1 death occurred in Nashua and 1 occurred in Manchester.
The fatality percentage was 5% for July, which was significantly lower than the 12-month average of 11%.
The 38 suspected opioid ODs in July were 8% below the rolling 12-month average of 41. Both cities are now forecasting either a drop or no increase for this year vs. last year in both overall suspected opioid overdoses and more importantly opioid-related deaths,
In Nashua, through July, the data indicates that Nashua is continuing to trend downward on an annual basis for suspected opioid ODs at 9% lower than the previous year. If that number holds, it will mark 5 straight years of suspected opioid OD incidence decline in Nashua. More importantly, suspected opioid OD related deaths are trending 25% lower on an annual basis in Nashua from the previous year.
In Manchester, through July, the data indicates that Manchester is trending exactly at the same number as last year with no increase. That’s after falling 47% over the last three years. Suspected opioid OD-related deaths are trending 5% lower on an annual basis in Manchester from the previous year after falling 49% over the last three years.

Please keep in mind that due to the nature of the opioid epidemic and its clear history of unpredictability, it is always possible that the trend of lower numbers could quickly change – as evidenced by the increase in Nashua this month. Overall, the trend is continuing in the right direction. With Narcan now widely available it is likely that some opioid overdoses are now occurring without 9-1-1 intervention and are not being reported due to rapid reversal.
