Community comes together to support Y CARES Financial Assistance Program

NASHUA, NH - The YMCA of Greater Nashua announced today that it raised more than $37,000 during its inaugural Y Day of Giving, with all proceeds benefiting the Y CARES Financial Assistance Program, which helps ensure individuals and families can access YMCA memberships, childcare, summer camp, swim lessons, youth sports, wellness programs, and more regardless of financial circumstance.

The total included more than $700 raised through a spirited Penny Wars competition at the Merrimack Early Education Center, as well as a generous $10,000 matching gift from an anonymous donor, helping amplify the community’s impact.

The day began with the Walk for Y CARES, a 2.5-mile community walk through Mine Falls Park organized by the YMCA Trail Walking Group. Members, families, staff, and community supporters gathered at 9am to walk together in support of making the Y accessible to all.

“Y Day of Giving is a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together around a shared purpose,” said COO, Joe Manzoli. “Every dollar raised helps remove barriers for children, families, and individuals who rely on the Y not just for programs, but for connection, support, and belonging. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated, volunteered, walked, shared our mission, and helped make this day such a success.” Through the Y CARES Financial Assistance Program, the YMCA of Greater Nashua provides critical support to individuals and families facing financial hardship, helping ensure everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive at the Y.

The YMCA also recognized the many volunteers, board members, staff members, and community advocates who dedicated their time and energy to organizing events, welcoming participants, and encouraging support throughout the campaign.

The organization extended special thanks to its Y Day of Giving partners, including:

  • The PLUS Company
  • Saint Christopher Academy
  • MASI Plumbing and Heating
  • Nashua Silver Knights
  • LME Financial Planning
