Community Members Can Donate Gently Used Shoes Without Leaving Their Vehicles
NASHUA, NH - United Way of Greater Nashua is making it easier than ever for community members to support local neighbors in need by hosting a special Drive-Through Shoe Donation Event on Tuesday, August 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the United Way office, located at 20 Broad Street in Nashua.
Alec’s shoes, a sponsor of the event, will provide a coupon for 10% off one pair of shoes at their Nashua store, for those donating shoes at the drive-through event.
The event is part of United Way's first-ever Summer Shoe Drive, benefiting the Greater Nashua Shoe Fund. Community members are encouraged to donate gently used shoes of all sizes for children, adults, and seniors.
Participants can simply drive into the United Way parking lot, where volunteers will be on hand to collect donations directly from vehicles, providing a quick and convenient way to contribute.
"Many of us have gently used shoes sitting in our closets that we no longer wear," said Mike Apfelberg, President of United Way of Greater Nashua. "This drive-through event makes it easy to turn those unused shoes into something meaningful for a neighbor in need. A donated pair of shoes could help a young person starting a new job, someone managing health conditions, or a family facing financial challenges."
The Greater Nashua Shoe Fund provides footwear to local residents throughout the year, helping address a basic but essential need that can impact employment, health, education, and overall well-being.
"We know people are busy," Apfelberg added. "By creating a simple drive-through donation experience, we're making it easier than ever for community members to get involved. Every pair of shoes donated helps someone take their next step forward."
The Summer Shoe Drive runs through August 31 and features collection bins at locations throughout Greater Nashua, including:
