Southern New Hampshire Health and Rockland Trust sponsor Oct. 14 flower giveaway, inviting recipients to keep one bouquet and share the other.
NASHUA, N.H.— People in downtown Nashua will receive an unexpected gift on Wednesday, Oct. 14: two free bouquets of flowers. One is theirs to keep. The other is theirs to give away.
Fortin Gage Flowers & Gifts, with sponsorship from Southern New Hampshire Health and Rockland Trust, will distribute 500 bouquets as part of Petal It Forward, the Society of American Florists’ nationwide goodwill initiative. The giveaway will take place 11AM at Bicentennial Park, Downtown Nashua, while supplies last.
“The second bouquet is what makes this special,” said Amber Morgan, owner of Fortin Gage. “Someone goes from being surprised by a gift to deciding who they want to surprise next. It might be a friend, a coworker or someone they’ve never met. They get to create that moment for another person.”
For Fortin Gage, which has served Nashua since 1931, the annual event brings its work beyond the flower shop and into the community. Support from Southern New Hampshire Health and Rockland Trust helps make this annual tradition possible, bringing local businesses together to share kindness throughout Nashua.
“We’re part of people’s lives during celebrations, difficult days and everything in between,” Morgan said. “Petal It Forward gives us a day to simply say, ‘You matter.’ My mission is to brighten my community one petal at a time, and this is a chance for everyone to join in.”
Recipients choose who receives their second bouquet. They are encouraged to share their experiences using #PetalItForward, showing how a single gift travels beyond the person who first receives it.
