Nashua, NH – With the new school year underway, the Nashua Community Music School (NCMS) is offering area families a chance to see if music might be their next extracurricular activity to enjoy. NCMS’ open house is a chance for anyone curious about music to visit the school, meet the teachers and staff, learn about opportunities available, and even try out instruments and classes, all for free.
Happening Friday, September 18, from 3-6 pm at NCMS’ 2 Lock St. facility (located in back of First Church Nashua), open house opportunities will include:
· Instrument “petting zoos” where kids of all ages can get hands-on experience trying real instruments of all kinds, from 3-6 pm
· Make-your-own maracas, from 3-6 pm
· 15-minute one-on-one mini-lessons in voice, piano, cello, guitar, bass guitar, and music therapy, from 3:30-5:30 pm
· “Mini Musicians” group class for kids 7 and under, from 3:20-3:40 and 4:30-4:50
· “Mini Strings” group class for aspiring violinists 7 and under, from 4:10-4:30 and 5:30-5:50 pm
· NCMS String Ensemble Showcase, an all-ages, all-levels community string orchestra performance, from 5-5:25 pm
“Our annual open house is a great opportunity for kids and families who want to give music a try, or are just curious about what we do here, a chance to see (and play) for themselves in a fun, no-pressure environment, totally free of charge,” said Lindsay Rinaldi, NCMS executive director. “We also offer extensive scholarship opportunities and urge open house visitors to ask a staff member about applying if their child is interested in lessons or classes at NCMS.”
