The Humane Society for Greater Nashua continues to actively fundraise as they enter Phase 3 of their expansion project
NASHUA, N.H. – When guests pull up the driveway of 24 Ferry Road, they are greeted with the familiar Humane Society for Greater Nashua (HSFN) sign and neatly manicured, historic Proctor Animal Cemetery. Beyond those two landmarks, the property looks vastly different. On top of the hill sits a brand-new building with an expanded, freshly paved parking lot, new shrubbery, and lampposts. The natural wood awning and stone posts are sure to catch one’s eye along with the recognizable cat, dog, and rabbit emblems.
As of Monday, September 21st, HSFN opened the doors of their new building to the community. The shelter will remain open 7 days a week (please see hours below) and the community veterinary clinic will be open Monday through Friday. The clinic is available to the public, regardless of the pet being adopted from HSFN, and offers affordable veterinary services including spay/neuter surgeries, vaccines and wellness care, and dental cleanings and extractions. Clinic appointments are booked via website at www.hsfn.org.
Shelter Hours:
Monday: 12pm – 5pm
Tuesday: 12pm – 5pm
Wednesday: 12pm – 4pm
Thursday: 12pm – 5pm
Friday: 12pm – 5pm
Saturday & Sunday: 10am – 4pm
(Please note: adoption appointments end 30 minutes prior to closing)
Immediate construction has begun on HSFN’s original building. These renovations are scheduled to be completed by Spring 2027. The renovated building will mirror the look of new building. One building will be dedicated to adoption/shelter services while the other will house the clinic and training area. During the interim, both shelter and clinic operations will continue in the new building.

Be a Part of this Lasting Legacy:
HSFN has proudly served the community for the past 126 years and looks forward to serving many more with their expanded space and services. Their new and improved veterinary clinic offers high-quality, affordable care to pets, ensuring they remain safe, happy, and healthy. The new training space will not only expand canine training services, but will serve as a location for educational programs, events, staff meetings, and more. The much-needed renovations will allow HSFN to rescue even more homeless pets and give them proper care as they await their new homes.
HSFN is still raising needed funds for this expansion project and is asking the community for their support as they enter the final phase of this project. HSFN has approximately $3 million dollars left to raise. As you consider your year-end gifts, please consider a gift to our expansion knowing every dollar is a promise to help our animal community. Other Ways to Support
If you are unable to provide a financial gift, but would still like to support HSFN, the organization happily welcomes donated items for their shelter. Donations can be dropped off in the new lobby during business hours. Due to limited space, HSFN is only accepting the following:
· Clean, gently used, or new blankets, towels, and sheets
· Clean, gently used, or new stuffed dog toys
· Clean, gently used, or new dog beds
· Cat litter
· Dog training treats such as Pup-peroni and Bil-Jacs
