$1.4M in State Capital Funding to Expand Healthcare Workforce Training
NASHUA, N.H. – Nashua Community College (NCC) has received $1.4 million in state capital funding to create a new 2,800-square-foot Allied Health Instruction Space on campus.
The new facility will serve as the home for existing and emerging healthcare programs, including Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA), Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN), and Medical Assisting (MA) programs. Designed as a flexible, high-utilization learning environment, the space will allow NCC to meet growing student demand while responding to the significant workforce needs of healthcare employers throughout New Hampshire.
“This investment represents an important step forward in our commitment to training the next generation of healthcare professionals,” said James Keane, President of NCC. “Healthcare employers across New Hampshire continue to face critical workforce shortages. This new Allied Health Instruction Space will provide students with hands-on, high-quality training while creating additional pathways into rewarding healthcare careers.”

Expanding Capacity to Meet Demand
NCC's healthcare programs have experienced significant growth in recent years. Historically, the college enrolled 24 students annually into the nursing associate in science degree. This year, after adding additional faculty resources, the program now hosts 32 nursing students.
The college is also exploring future opportunities for an LPN-to-RN bridge pathway, which would allow licensed practical nurses to advance their education and credentials while helping healthcare providers retain and develop skilled employees.
The new Allied Health Instruction Space will complement NCC's existing nursing laboratory and create dedicated learning environments for programs that currently face space limitations or are in development.
A Modern, Flexible Healthcare Training Environment
The addition will be constructed over the college's existing rooftop terrace on the third floor of Judd Gregg Hall. The facility is envisioned as a highly flexible instructional environment that can support healthcare education throughout the day, evenings, and weekends.
The design will emphasize hands-on skills development and realistic healthcare simulations.
Construction planning is currently underway, with college leaders, faculty, architects, and state partners working collaboratively to finalize the design and ensure the new facility meets both current and future healthcare workforce needs.
