Donchess: Proposed budget keeps core services amid “skyrocketing” costs

“This is a budget that basically maintains current level of services,” Donchess said, arguing that far deeper cuts would require laying off large numbers of police officers, firefighters, teachers and other staff. The Board of Aldermen’s budget committee will now review the proposal.
